Disney has released the official trailer for The Muppet Show, giving fans a first look at the highly anticipated special event set to premiere February 4 on Disney+ and ABC.
Synopsis: It’s The Muppet Show! Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the full Muppets gang are back with music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos. This time around, they’re joined by very special guests Sabrina Carpenter and Maya Rudolph, with Seth Rogen serving as both executive producer and guest star.
The special event arrives as The Muppet Show celebrates its 50th anniversary. The original series, created by Jim Henson, ran from 1976 through 1981 and became one of the most beloved variety shows in television history, airing in over 100 countries and featuring guest stars like Elton John, Diana Ross, Johnny Cash, and Liza Minnelli.
Performers behind the new production include veteran Muppet performers Dave Goelz—who originated characters like Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and performed on the original series—along with Bill Barretta, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel.
The special event is produced by 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio, and Point Grey Pictures, and directed by Alex Timbers, who also serves as an executive producer. Executive producers for Point Grey include Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee, while David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, and Michael Steinbach executive produce for The Muppets Studio. Sabrina Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel, and Eric Jacobson are also credited as executive producers.
A new single, “The Muppet Show Theme (2026),” performed by The Muppets and produced by GRAMMY® and Emmy® winner Bill Sherman, will be released alongside the special on February 4.
