Netflix tweeted a link to their new One Piece tv show home page with two newly released photos from the live-action series. They’ve also announced that it will be released this year. After the mixed-to-negative reactions to the live-action Cowboy Bebop, and before that the Death Note tv series, there’s undoubtedly a lot of curiosity and concern at this new attempt.
One Piece, written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, began as a manga series in 1997 in Shonen Jump. Since then One Piece has broken many records for sales over the years, and remains one of if not the most popular series in Japan. It’s anime has similarly gone on to achieve great success and worldwide fandoms. One Piece even holds a Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author.
