Disney+ released the trailer for their forthcoming Afrofuturist anthology series Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire.
Logline: This action-packed animated sci-fi anthology presents ten futuristic visions from Africa inspired by the continent’s diverse histories and cultures. Executive produced by Oscar®-winning director Peter Ramsey, these ten short films made by a new generation of animation creators draw on uniquely African perspectives to imagine brave new worlds of advanced technology, aliens, spirits, and monsters. This is Africa as you’ve never seen it before.
According to Disney+. “Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire” features 14 up and coming directors hailing from across Africa featuring a variety of fantasy stories with bold visions of advanced technology, aliens, spirits and monsters imagined from uniquely African perspectives.
The series is developed by the production company Triggerfish, which is headquartered in South Africa. Triggerfish has previously produced three original feature films, Adventures in Zambezia, Khumba and Seal Team. Their work for Magic Light Pictures on five BBC Christmas specials earned an Oscar nomination, three BAFTAs and an International Emmy. The studio has also expanded their kids and family content with the publication of the graphic novel Pearl of the Sea to critical acclaim.
Peter Ramsey, Tendayi Nyeke, and Anthony Silverston serve as Executive Producers for the series.
