After the release of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, a horror film which took advantage of the new public domain status for the beloved created by English author A. A. Milne and English illustrator E. H. Shepard, it was only a matter of time before a new film would take advantage of the entry of the original Mickey Mouse’s inclusion into public domain.
That apparently took all of one day a trailer has just been released for a new film titled Mickey’s Mouse Trap. The film was created by Bailey Phillips Production with Jamie Bailey as director.
Logline: It’s Alex’s 21st Birthday, but she’s stuck at the amusement arcade on a late shift so her friends decide to surprise her, but a masked killer dressed as Mickey Mouse decides to play a game of his own with them which she must survive.
In the trailer, we’re given an initial look at this new murderous Mickey who stars as the titular antagonist of the film.
Undoubtedly there will be future releases in various media that take advantage of this copyright lapse of the original Steamboat Willie Mickey Mouse design.
