South Korean-Canadian singer Jeon Somi released her newest track “Ice Cream”, following a video live countdown on YouTube where Somi answered questions, teased for the audience who the male actor in the MV might be, and discussed the making of ice cream the titular treat in her song.
The song and MV then dropped at 2pm KST where the audience were introduced to a 3:24 song she’s described as a “Summer special single”. In the music video, Somi appears to be an ice cream truck driver who delivers summer sweetness to a small block sweltering from the heat. In the latter part of the song, beloved K-Drama actor Park Seo-joon makes an appearance as well.
The song itself, which is sung in all English, incorporates a bevy of horns and an up-tempo feel with catchy lyrics that definitely positions it in competition for “song of the summer”.
Jeon Somi’s previous song “Fast Forward” quickly rose to fame in part thanks to its presence on TikTok as a dance challenge.
