Amazon Studios announced that ‘Good Omens’, the show based on the novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, has been picked up for a third season. This will also be the final season for the series.
‘Good Omens’ Season 2 was recently released in July 2023. The season picked up following the events of the first season, which adopted the novel.
In the press release from Amazon Studios, Gaiman is quoted as saying, “I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006. Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.”
The final season of ‘Good Omens’ will begin filming soon in Scotland. Neil Gaiman continues as executive producer, writer, and showrunner. Rob Wilkins of Narrativia, representing Terry Pratchett’s estate, as well as BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy Josh Cole will also executive produce.
Terry Pratchett passed away in 2015 at the age of 66.
