It’s almost that time of year again for Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA)! Every December, thousands of otaku descend on Atlanta for the convention, and this year the event returns to the Georgia World Congress Center from December 18th to 21st.
AWA is known for its massive anime programming, but over the years the convention has also built a reputation for bringing in an increasingly impressive music lineup. Past events have featured industry icons such as Crystal Kay and Miyavi, punk legends like Shonen Knife and Peelander-Z, and rising artists including Tokyo Den-Nou and U_Chae.
And 2025 already looks like one of the biggest years yet.

Legendary rock band FLOW joins AWA 2025, bringing their iconic anime hits to Atlanta.
The convention just announced that FLOW will perform at AWA, which is a major achievement for any anime event. FLOW is an influential Japanese rock band that has been active since 1998, and their music has appeared in a long list of anime franchises. Although they are best known for their contributions to Naruto, their songs have also been featured in Eureka Seven, Code Geass, Rurouni Kenshin, and many others.
The band is currently on their large-scale “NARUTO THE ROCK” world tour, which has already brought them to England, mainland Europe, Canada, and the United States. Their stop at AWA will officially close the 2025 American leg of the tour, and fans can expect a wild and unforgettable night with one of the most celebrated rock bands in anime fandom and in Japan’s rock scene as a whole.
As if FLOW alone were not enough, AWA also announced that Korea’s beloved rock group Rolling Quartz is coming. The band wrapped a major US tour earlier this year, and their appearance at AWA is sure to feel like a well-earned victory lap. With multiple EPs and singles, along with several viral cover performances ranging from My Chemical Romance to Mötley Crüe, Rolling Quartz is guaranteed to bring serious energy to the stage.

If rock is not your thing, AWA still has plenty to offer. MADKID is also joining the lineup. The Japanese boy band has contributed music to anime series such as Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre and The Rising of the Shield Hero. Although they are a pop group at their core, their sound leans more rock-influenced than many other boy bands, and they have even toured with rock vocalist Nano. They will definitely add their own distinct flavor to the weekend.

AWA is also leaning heavily into idol performances this year. Each day of the convention will showcase singers and groups such as Hamu Cotton, Phoebe, Pengy, and Ri.vals. Fans can look forward to themed events including the Starlight Idol Festival and the Maid For You showcase, with both virtual 2D idols and in-person 3D idol performers. With this many passionate acts, idol fans are in for a nonstop celebration.
