Atsuko Tanaka, Veteran Japanese Voice Actress Passed Away at 61

Japanese voice actress Atsuko Tanaka has passed away at age 61. This was confirmed in an announcement on Twitter by her son Hikaru Tanaka.

 

Tanaka voiced over 100 characters in her career, though she’s best known for her role as Motoko Kusanagi in the Ghost in the Shell franchise. She also voiced Caster in Fate/stay night, Tahamine in Heroic Legend of Arslan, Hanami in Jujutsu Kaizen, and Amida Arca in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, along with many other notable characters.

In the announcement, Hikaru mentioned his mother passed away following a year of fighting with an undisclosed illness.
