On Thursday, February 20th, Nickelodeon announced Avatar: Seven Havens, a new animated series from Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The series, developed under the Avatar Studios banner at Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, marks the next chapter in the beloved Avatarverse.

According to the official announcement, “Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra—but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

DiMartino and Konietzko, who return as co-creators and executive producers, expressed their excitement about expanding the Avatar universe: “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”

Avatar: Seven Havens will air on Nickelodeon, the home of both Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel, The Legend of Korra. The series will span two books, with Book 1 and Book 2 each consisting of 13 half-hour episodes. Ethan Spaulding serves as executive producer, with Sehaj Sethi as co-executive producer.

This announcement arrives as Nickelodeon celebrates the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which premiered on February 21, 2005. The milestone is being marked with exclusive digital content across the Paramount ecosystem, unique fan experiences, and new consumer products and games. Over the past two decades, Avatar: The Last Airbender has become a global phenomenon, inspiring a sequel series, bestselling books, a live orchestra world tour, and an upcoming theatrical film.

In addition to Avatar: Seven Havens, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are set to release the highly anticipated Untitled Animated Aang Avatar film in theaters on January 30, 2026. The film features a voice cast including Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, and introduces Eric Nam.

With Avatar: Seven Havens on the horizon and a major animated film in the works, the Avatar universe is poised for an exciting new era.
