According to an exclusive report from Variety, Sky Deuschtland, a German media company also known as Sky that operates a direct broadcast satellite Pay TV platform, has shut down its scripted original series including Babylon Berlin, Helgoland 513, and Das Boot.
Babylon Berlin’s fourth season will be its last under Sky Deuschtland; however, Variety reports that producer Beta Film has confirmed season 5 will be comissioned with German broadcaster ARD’s production company ARD Degeto and X Filme.
Variety reports that it seems rising costs of scripted services and increased competition from streaming services led to the decision.
