On May 4th, 2023, The Chattanooga Film Festival announced the first wave of titles and events that will be taking place at this year’s hybrid festival, which will be held both in-person and virtually from June 23rd to June 29th. Now in their tenth year, the festival continues to bring an incredible variety of guests, screenings, and activities to the Scenic City for casual and die-hard film lovers alike.
Chattanooga Film Festival 2023 Premieres
Of the many features of note, the CFF will host two world premieres: Sour Party and Tearsucker. Sour Party by Amanda Drexton and Michael A. Drexton is a unique, feminist take on the buddy comedy genre. While contrasting from that entry, Tearsucker, the world premiere of director Stephen Vanderpool and writer/star Sam Brittan’s, features a psychopath who seeks to be satiated by women’s tears.
Additional premieres include the North American premiere of We Might Hurt Each Other, a folk-inspired horror film directed by Jonas Trukanas. The CFF will also welcome the Southeast Premiere of Japanese director Keishi Kondo’s film captivating horror film New Religion, presented by Screambox.

Among the many guests that will be featured at this year’s festival will be the comedian Jonah Ray, who will MC the special Boat Float which takes place on Chattanooga’s iconic Southern Belle Riverboat. The CFF will also host Stephen Scarlata (Jodorowsky’s Dune) and Josh Miller’s (Violent Night) of the Best Movies Never Made podcast along with Clay McLeod Chapman (Whisper Down the Lane, Netflix’s “Wendell & Wild”) and Grady Hendrix (The Final Girl Support Group, The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires).
