Disney has announced the return of The Muppet Show with a brand-new special event set to premiere February 4 on Disney+ and ABC, bringing the iconic franchise back to its roots.

Synopsis: It’s “The Muppet Show!” Kermit, Miss Piggy and the beloved Muppet gang are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!

The special event arrives 50 years after the original series The Muppet Show, created by Jim Henson, first premiered in 1976 and ran through 1981, becoming one of the most beloved variety shows in television history.

Performers behind the new production include veteran Muppet performers Dave Goelz—who originated iconic characters such as Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and performed on the original series—along with Bill Barretta, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel.

Seth Rogen serves as executive producer on the special event, which is produced by 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio, and Point Grey Pictures. The program is directed by Alex Timbers, who also serves as an executive producer. In addition to Rogen, executive producers for Point Grey Pictures include Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee, with David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, and Michael Steinbach executive producing for The Muppets Studio. Sabrina Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel, and Eric Jacobson are also executive producers.
