For Black History Month, Disney+ is spotlighting films, shorts, and series that “spotlight Black voices, culture, excellence and joy through incredible storytelling.” Here is just a small selection of the titles available to stream.

Twenty Something

In 2021, Twenty Something was released as an exclusive short on Disney+. Twenty Something follows Gia, a 21 year old anxious about her transition into adulthood, as she imagines herself at various ages in her life to help comfort and at times confront her present self.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder (Season 2)

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder returns on Disney+ for Season 2. After a successful revival of the early 2000s era show The Proud Family in 2022, Penny Proud and her family return for more family challenges and adventures. Excitedly Disney announced new guests for Season 2 including Gabrielle Union, Normani, Chance the Rapper, and Leslie Odom Jr.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

After the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, director Ryan Coogler and the original cast picked up with a narrative steeped in reverence and tragedy from the real world and character loss of the Black Panther. After a successful run in theatres, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits Disney+ this month in standard and IMAX Enhanced versions. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the last theatrical release for Phase 4 of the Marvel Universe.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Marvel’s Moon Girl is one of the comparatively newer titles to be adapted for the screen. Created in 2015 by writers Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, and aritst Natacha Bustos, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur features a young African-American girl whose talent with tech and inventions far surpass peers of her age. After encountering Devil Dinosaur, a gigantic T-Rex, their fate is interwined as they face the foes the Killer Folk.
