After two seasons of Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, a show that expanded the world of the original films by following a new generation of youth hockey fans, Disney+ is calling it quits.
Game Changers Season 1 had a positive critics ranking of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and drew praise from audiences as well. After Season 1 however Coach Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez in the original films and in Season 1 of Game Changers, departed from the show. Thus perhaps further removing the show’s ties to the beloved films for millennials.
Due to the overall popularity and scope of the world of the Mighty Ducks, that Disney even extended to their then professional hockey team the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, now known simply as Anaheim Ducks, one can imagine this world may be revisited again in the future.
