Among the many feature films this year, SXSW will host the premiere of a documentary, ‘A Disturbance in the Force’, on March 11th all about the notorious spectacle that is the Star Wars Holiday Special. We first heard about this thanks to Nerdist.com.
‘A Disturbance in the Force’ sets up the film’s notoriety with it’s Vader-like opening. Celebrities including the late Gilbert Godfrey, Kevin Smith, and Weird Al Yankovic are featured in the trailer.
The Star Wars Holiday Special originally aired on TV November, 17, 1978 on CBS. The story takes place between the first and second films of the original trilogy. The story begins with a look at Han and Chewbacca’s trip to Chewbacca’s home world.
