From Dreamer to Villain: How Netflix’s ‘The Queen of Villains’ Unleashes Japan’s Most Feared Heel

Netflix released the first official teaser for ‘The Queen of Villains’, which showcases the rise of Kaoru Matsumoto, a young girl who dreamed of a wrestling career and then became one of the most reviled heels in the history of wrestling. ‘The Queen of Villains’ will begin streaming on September 19th, 2024 on Netflix.

Synopsis: ‘The Queen of Villains’ is a semi-autobiographical drama that tells the untold story of Dump Matsumoto, whose charismatic popularity whipped up a whirlwind in women’s professional wrestling in the 1980s.

Japanese actress and comedian Yuriyan Retriever stars as Kaoru Matsumoto alongside cast members Erika Karata, Ayame Goriki, Nobuko Sendo, Takuma Otoo, Daisuke Kuroda, Takumi Saitoh, and Jun Murakami.

Osamu Suzuki serves as developer, writer, and producer for the film, alongside supervising director Kazuya Shiraishi.
