In a tweet by Netflix on February 23, 2023, they announced that Guillermo Del Toro will be developing a new stop-motion adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s 2015 novel “The Buried Giant”. In the tweet Netflix says “the story follows an elderly couple living in a fictional post-Arthurian England where no one retains long-term memories.”
Guillermo Del Toro’s last stop-motion feature was “Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio”, which reached critical acclaim with a 97% certified fresh rating. “Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio” also won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature and has since been nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 95th Academy Awards.
