According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dean DeBlois, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and animator known for writing and directing Lilo & Stitch along with the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, will helm his first live-action film with the development of a ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ live-action film.
How to Train Your Dragon became a tour de force for Universal Pictures, and their subsidiary DreamWorks Animation, with the launch of the animated film franchise in 2010. Each film has featured a young viking named Hiccup and his dragon friend Toothless, as they show their world a new way to co-exist humans and dragons together.
How to Train Your Dragon adapted British author Cressida Cowell’s series of the same name. The franchise has earned Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature for each film in the franchise and for Best Original Score for the initial film.
Universal Pictures has set a release date of March 14, 2025 for the live-action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ film.
