Netflix released its latest teaser with Gong Yoo welcoming you to play a game with two mysterious items. Netflix then confirmed the release date for Season 2 as December 26th, which they’d previously announced as a part of Netflix Geeked Week.
In Squid Game Season 1, Gong Yoo appeared as “The Salesman”, and he’ll be reprising his role again in Season 2.
Netflix released an official synopsis for Season 2, which says “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”
Returning members include Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo who will be joined by new cast members Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, is also back as writer, director, and executive producer for Season 2.
