At the end of Netflix’s in-person and live streamed Netflix Geeked Week event they released the much anticipated teaser for Squid Game Season 2, along with new photos from Season 2 which sees the return of Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun.
Season 2 will be released exclusively on Netflix on December 26th.
In the special teaser we see an anxious Gi-hun appear to be visited by Squid Game’s Frontman. The teaser then cycles through images of what appears to be a second set of games with Gi-hun back in the game uniform.
Netflix released an official synopsis for Season 2, which says “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”
Returning members include Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo who will be joined by new cast members Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, is back as writer, director, and executive producer for Season 2.
In addition to a teaser poster reveal, Netflix released the first images from the forthcoming Season 2 of Squid Game.
