At Netflix’s Geeked Week live event held in Atlanta on Sept. 19th, it was announced that Miya Cech would star as Toph Beifong in the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

During the live-stream a short clip reveals only the character’s feet as she begins to earthbend.
Miya Cech is known for her roles in The Astronauts, Marvelous and the Black Hole, and The Santa Clauses.
Toph Beifong is introduced in the original animated series as an resident of the Earth Kingdom and an Earthbender who joins the Avatar on his adventures and works to teach him earthbending.
Season 2 of Netflix’s Avatar: the Last Airbender is in production. No release date has yet been announced.
