Netflix released the official trailer for their forthcoming Japanese live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho, a popular manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi between 1990 and 1994. ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’ also had a successful anime adaptation that ran from 1992 to 1994, which ran in America on Toonami and Adult Swim.
The series will stream exclusively on Netflix on December 14th.
Synopsis: After a selfless act costs him his life, teen delinquent Yusuke Urameshi is chosen as a Spirit Detective to investigate cases involving rogue yokai.
Netflix’s live-action adaptation follows closely on the heels of their One Piece live-action adaptation, which was a critical and commercial success. Netflix has also previously adapted live-action versions of Death Note and Cowboy Bebop.
The series is being developed by Akira Morii and Kazutaka Sakamoto, with a cast that includes Takumi Kitamura as Yusuke Urameshi, Shuhei Uesugi as Kazuma Kuwabara, Jun Shison as Kurama, Kanata Hongō as Hiei, and Sei Shiraishi as Keiko Yukimura.
