NewJeans took to their Instagram account, jeanzforfree, to further confirm their departure from ADOR, following their earlier decision on November 28th to void their contract due to unresolved grievances. This dispute first became public with the controversy between former CEO Min Hee-jin and ADOR/HYBE.

The group shared in their Instagram story that they’ve hired Kim & Chang Law Firm, who also represent Min Hee-jin in her legal battles. They expressed a lack of trust towards HYBE and ADOR, accusing the label of trying to divide the group by secretly meeting with their parents.

NewJeans apologized to their fans for the turmoil and thanked them for their ongoing support. They also released a second post asking for suggestions for a new group name, encouraging fans to join the fun.

The full statement from Minji, Hanni, Haerin, Danielle, and Hyein follows below.

Hello.

This is Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.

We have confirmed through media reports that ADOR has applied for an injunction to suspend the validity of the exclusive contract and, in addition, requested the prohibition of deletion of social media posts and content. We have been served the complaint and the application, and we have appointed the law firm Sejong as our legal representative.

Since ADOR and HYBE have appointed Kim & Chang Law Firm as their legal representatives, we believed it necessary to have a law firm capable of addressing this matter. To respond quickly to the injunction, we judged that Sejong, which has already identified the issues and problems caused by HYBE and ADOR, was the most appropriate choice.

HYBE and ADOR have not fulfilled their obligations as an agency to protect and foster their artists. While there were numerous issues, both big and small, during our activities, they effectively pushed us aside and sought replacements, referring to it as “temporarily suspending group activities.” After we terminated our exclusive contracts under fair conditions, baseless allegations began to spread in the media and through YouTube leaks, most of which were disseminated without providing clear evidence from ADOR or HYBE. At the center of all these matters lies ADOR, making it impossible for us to lieve they have any intention of supporting us.

Now, ADOR and HYBE are pressuring us to return, claiming we could avoid public criticism. However, they have continuously harassed and attacked us behind the scenes. Recently, they even tried to mislead our parents by providing false and distorted information to force us to withdraw our claims. They are not seeking an honest resolution but are instead attempting to arm us in every way possible, including media anipulation and misinformation campaigns.

To be clear, none of us five have any intention of returning to HYBE or ADOR, where mutual trust has been irreparably damaged.

After the termination of our exclusive contracts, we wanted to resolve matters peacefully and fulfill our remaining obligations to minimize disputes and prevent harm to those involved.

However, despite our efforts, HYBE and ADOR have not cooperated and have caused harm to many through inappropriate and malicious actions against us.

We will continue to take legal action to hold ADOR and HYBE accountable, clarify the truth, and reveal their wrongdoing.

We are sorry for worrying the fans who have supported and loved us. However, we will face this situation head-on and work hard to share our music with you again as soon as possible. We will resolve this matter in a fair and just manner. We sincerely ask for your continued support and encouragement.

Thank you.
