Paul Reubens, 70, Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Paul Reubens, the actor known best for his portrayal as his original character Pee-wee Herman, passed away after a private battle with cancer at the age of 70.

Paul Reubens began his career in the L.A. comedy troupe The Groundlings. In 1980, Reubens developed his character Pee-wee Herman who he played in the stage show he created called ‘The Pee-wee Herman Show’. in 1985, Tim Burton would go on to direct the feature film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure starring Reubens again as the titular character.

Reubens also featured in feature films including Mystery Men, Blow, and Accidental Love, along with voice work for such films as The Smurfs and tv series such as American Dad, Legends of Tomorrow, and Bob’s Burgers.

Reubens career was also stunted with two arrests, with the second in 2004 where Reubens pleaded guilty to lesser misdemeanor obscenity charge, instead of the original charges of possession of child pornography.
