SAG-AFTRA Orders Strike; Join Writer’s Guild for First Double Strike Since 1960

SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical/Streaming Strike has been ordered effective July 14, at 12:01 a.m. This setups the first double strike of two Hollywood unions since 1960.

In the SAG-AFTRA strike order, which can be read in full here, they announce: “The National Board has declared a strike of all covered services under the Producer – SAG-AFTRA Codified Basic Agreement and SAG-AFTRA Television Agreements and their related agreements (“TV/Theatrical Contracts”) and instructs all SAG-AFTRA members to cease rendering all services and performing all work covered by the TV/Theatrical Contracts.”

Presently the Writers Guild unions are in their 73rd day of their strike.

These joint strikes effectively shuts down the majority of productions for movies and TV.

This strike follows an exclusive report by Deadline that studio execs. are attempting to wait until those striking start losing apartments and homes.
