Schmigadoon!’s Next Act Schmicago! Sets Its Sights and Sounds on 60s & 70’s Musicals

Apple TV+’s Schmigadoon!, which reverently riffs on classic musicals in its first season, rebrands in its second season as Schmicago! Season Two looks ahead to mid-20th century musicals with Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key both returning as leads.

Schmigadoon! Season 2 will begin streaming on Apple TV+ on April 5th.

Schmigadoon!’s Synopsis for Season 2: Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) miss the magic they felt in Schmigadoon and in an attempt to return, find themselves in Schmicago—the reimagined world of ’60s and ’70s musicals. The new season will include new original musical numbers from co-creator and executive producer Cinco Paul, as well as returning stars Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, and Aaron Tveit with the addition of Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page.

Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Tituss Burgess, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ariana DeBose, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, Patrick Page, Martin Short and Aaron Tveit star in returning Apple Original series co-created by Cinco Paul.

“Schmigadoon!” is co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, and produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group and Broadway Video. Paul serves as showrunner and wrote all of the original songs for the series. Lorne Michaels is executive producer. Andrew Singer executive produces on behalf of Broadway Video with Micah Frank as co-executive producer.
