Searchlight Pictures debuts the first poster for Taika Waititi’s next film ‘Next Goal Wins’, which follows the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001. With the World Cup Qualifiers approaching, the team hires down-on-his-luck, maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around in this heartfelt underdog comedy.
The film is set for a November 13, 2023 theatrical release.
Waititi’s film is an adaptation of the 2014 British documentary by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison. Joining Fassbender on the cast will be Oscar Kightley, David Fane, Beulah Koale, Uli Latukefu, Rachel House, Kaimana, Rhys Darby, Will Arnett, and Elisabeth Moss.
This will be Waititi’s first feature film since 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
