As the Writers Guild of America continue to strike for living wages, increased benefits, and contracts that better anticipate the future of technology and AI, studios have braced themselves for how this affects both current and future shows. Already there have been reports of productions stopping out right, or slowing down, as the strike continues. Here is an updated list of the productions that have thus far been affected by the WGA Strike. (We’ll keep this updated as news breaks of further delays.)
Late Night TV
The Tonight Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Real Time with Bill Maher, This Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Daily Show, and SNL were all immediately impacted by the strike.
Movies and Shows with Production Delays, Hiatuses, or Cancellations:
Abbott Elementary (Season 3)
Collider.com reported that Abbott Elementary’s Season 3 production is on hold. Showwriter Brittani Nichols, whose been outspoken of her support for her fellow writers, shared the news according to the report.
Daredevil: Born Again
According to Deadline.com, Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again was targeted by picketing on May 8th which led to a shutdown of production for the day as some staff and crew would not cross the picket line.
Evil (Season 4)
Deadline reported that Evil, which was filming season 4, had its filming delayed after being targeted by picketers.
Hacks (Season 3)
In an exclusive report from Deadline.com, production has paused on Season 3 of HBO Max’s Hacks.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight
The Game of Thrones spin-off, The Hedge Knight, according to Variety.com is halting its production. This comes after George R.R. Martin himself expressed support for the writers during their strike. The Last of Us (Season 2)
According to Forbes.com, The Last of Us Season 2 will be delayed due to the writers strike. Forbes mentions that co-creator Craig Manzin has been on the picket lines himself, and his co-creator Neil Druckmann has halted his work on the show as well.
Marvel’s Blade
According to an exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios has put production on the new Blade film on hold for now until the strike is settled.
Severance (Season 2)
Apple TV+’s drama Severance has had to push the pause button on production after picketing outside the NY studios shut down production according to Deadline.
Stranger Things (Season 5)
Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong
