Netflix dropped the official trailer for the ‘Ranma 1/2’ anime reboot, which reimagines the beloved manga by Rumiko Takahashi.

This new anime series, directed by Kōnosuke Uda and produced by MAPPA, will begin streaming on Netflix on October 5th.

Synopsis: Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo’s parents have arranged for them to get married. However, there’s a problem: whenever Ranma is splashed with cold water, he turns into a girl! The stage is set for a slapstick martial arts rom-com filled with quirky characters!

‘Ranma 1/2’ originally was released in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1987 to 1996. In 1989, Studio Deen brought the manga to life in its first iteration as an anime though the series was cancelled shortly thereafter and reworked as ‘Ranma ½ Nettōhen’ which ran from 1989 to 1992.

Since the initial two series ran, ‘Ranma 1/2’ has since had several OVAs as well as a series of video games, guidebooks, and a live-action special. Viz Media also licensed the anime in 1993 and then brought it over to the United States where it developed a following in the anime community.
