BUCK-TICK Vocalist Atsushi Sakurai Passes Away at 57

The official accounts and website for the Japanese rock band BUCK-TICK announced today Oct. 24, 2023, that Atsushi Sakurai, vocalist of the band, passed away due to a brain stem hemmorage on October 19, 2024.

According to the announcement Sakurai had been performing a concert at KT Zepp Yokohama on October 19th, when he became unwell and was rushed to the hospital.

Sakurai was laid to rest in a private ceremony with his family in accordance to the wishes of his family. The announcement promises a time in the future when fans can express their rememberances and condolences together, and in the meantime they would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have supported Atsushi Sakurai so far and everyone involved.

BUCK-TICK had recently wrapped up their 35th anniversary celebrations, which included a Japanese tour and a new album “Another Sky -IZORA-“, which was released on April 12th.

BUCK-TICK’s line-up has remained uniform since 1985, with lead vocalist Atsushi Sakurai, lead guitarist Hisashi Imai, rhythm guitarist Hidehiko Hoshino, bassist Yutaka Higuchi and drummer Toll Yagami.
